Ground Source Heat Pumps
Ground Source Heat Pumps use the energy stored as heat in the ground during sunlight hours to generate energy that can be used within your home.
Loops of pipe buried in your garden either coiled, flat or vertical are filled and emptied continuously via an electrical pump in your house with a mixture of water and anti-freeze.
As this liquid travels around the looped pipe is warmed via heat from the ground and this heat is transferred back to your home, thus reducing your costs your heating costs.
The longer the loop in your garden, the more heat the liquid is able to absorb and transfer to your home.
To further increase energy efficiency you may consider using a renewable energy source such as a solar photovoltaic (PV) system to power the pump needed to circulate the fluid within the looped pipe.
As the ground temperature stays constant Ground Source Heat Pumps should be a reliable source of heating for your home all year round.
